2010 will mark the
debut for AS Londra Sud. As a former competitor - I used to represent
Scalabrini in the early 80's - I remember that the OGI weekend was a
highlight in the calendar. However, young Italians in south London have
not been able to sample the unique atmosphere that the OGI provides for
many years.
Therefore, along with my wife Nadia Lunghi, Marcello Moscarello, Enzo
Zaccarini and Piero Zanelli, we have decided to set up a new team that,
we hope, will establish a community of young Italians that will
participate for many years to come.
Our aims for our first foray back are simple: to run an organised
team and, more importantly, hope that the children have fun. We hope to
win a few medals but the time to compete for the OGI trophy will come in
a few years' time.
We'd like to thank the Comitato Donne Italiane who have shown enough
faith to sponsor us.
We'd like to thank the parents and grandparents of our competitors
who support us and bring their children to training.
Finally, we'd like to thank the OGI committee for making sure that
this fantastic event is still going strong.
