Dear

We are writing to you as members the Olimpiadi Gioventó Italiana committee. We are part of a team of dedicated and enthusiastic parents, whose function is to organise The Italian Youth Olympics, which is held every two years. One of our aims this year is to encourage members of our Italian Community to form their own teams and participate in one of the largest single events on the Italian Calendar!

The Olimpiadi Gioventó Italiana was founded in 1978 by St. Peter’s Italian Youth Club Committee, which is situated in Central London. The first O.G.I games were held in 1980 on the Whitsun bank holiday weekend in North London. Thankfully, the games have taken place every two years since then. The aim of the Olimpiadi Gioventó Italiana is to  provide young people in the Italian Community, aged 9 – 21 with the opportunity to take part in a three day olympic event. As the teams are drawn from Italian Associations, Italian Clubs and Italian Schools it also gives many families and friends an occasion to meet up with one another.

The last O.G.I took place in 2002 and over 400 young people and their families attended. A great weekend was had by all. There was a great sense of community spirit and we even managed to watch Italy play in the World Cup on large television screens !

However, over the last few years the number of teams participating in the O.G.I. has dwindled. We are therefore approaching key members of our Italian Community and requesting they give this matter some thought.

We are proud to state that the O.G.I  has been a part of our Italian Community for the past 22 years and we hope to continue for many years to come. To do this we need your help and support. We therefore invite you to visit our website www.ogi-olympics.com for further information. We are confident that this will encourage you to consider our request and become part of this worthwhile and rewarding event.

Preparations are underway for the 2004 olympics so please do not hesitate in contacting us.

We can be  reached via email at info@ogi-olmypics.com  or by post to Olimpiadi Gioventó Italiana, 2 Backhill, Clerkenwell, London EC1R 5EN.

Teams wanting to participate in the OGI 2004 need to register by 31st January 2004.

We  very much look forward to hearing from you in the  near future,

Yours Sincerely

Mrs Maria Tozzi                                                             Mrs Mariella Mansi
